112 strains Mycobacterium avium subsp.avium (MAA) and 5 strains M.avium subsp. silvaticum (MAS) containing IS901, IS1245 were identified by RFLP and serotyping. Strains were isolated from different hosts, farms and countries. No correlation was found between the specific RFLP type and the serotype or its host. The polymorphism among MAA strains isolated from 60 pig herds and environment from the Czech Rep., Slovakia, Slovenia and the Netherlands was also investigated.
