Isolates of Staphylococcus spp. from food chain were screened using dilution methods for resistance to erythromycin and D-test for inducible resistance to macrolides, lincosamides and streptogramin B (iMLSB). This first report on the resistance of Staphylococcus spp. to erythromycin in the Czech Republic illustrates that, while occurrence was low, isolates from food were nevertheless vectors of erm(A), erm(B), erm(C), msr(A) and mph(C) genes for resistance to erythromycin and, therefore, represent a potential danger for humans.

Czech description
Izoláty Staphylococcus spp. z potravního řetězce byly vyšetřovány dilučními metodami na rezistenci ke 12 antimikrobiálním látkám, včetně erytromycinu a D-testem ke zjištění indukované rezistence k makrolidů, linkosamidům a streptograminu B (iMLSB). Výsledek studie představuje první informaci o rezistenci stafylokoků k erytromycinu v České republice a dokládá, že i když byla počet rezistentních izolátů nízký, potraviny živočišného původu byly vektorem erm(A), erm(B), erm(C), msr(A) a mph(C) genů rezistence k erytromycinu a představují tak potencionální nebezpečí pro člověka.
