Biolabeling with 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic Acid Derivatives: The 2,4-D Tag

  • Original language description

Current analytic and diagnostic methodologies require highly sensitive tags for single- or multiple-labeling of biomolecules. A new labeling and detection system based on derivatives of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and anti-2,4-D antibodies isdescribed. The 2,4-D-system is versatile and robust and can be used for a large variety of biomolecules such as (glyco)proteins, peptides and DNA. When its sensitivity of detection is compared with that of the established systems digoxigenin (DIG)/anti-DIG and biotin/streptavidin, the performance of 2,4-D is at least comparable to if not better than that of its competitors.
