Comparing Pig and Amphibian Oocytes: Methodologies for Aneuploidy Detection and Complementary Lessons for MAPK Involvement in Meiotic Spindle Morphogenesis
Original language description
Study of aneuploidy, has been one of the main concerns in human reproduction for decades. Hovewer, a detailed study of human aneuploidy hindered by the lack of a samples. Most studies so far have been performed using the mouse model, which in many aspects does not allow direct comparison with humans. Last reports detecting aneuploidies in porcine oocytes bring interesting results and indicate significance of the porcine model for the study of aneuploidy in human. Understanding of aneuploidy occurrence during meiosis in humans will benefit from experiments performed in various models, such as pigs or amphibians.
