An outbreak of listeriosis linked to turkey meat products in the Czech Republic, 2012–2016
Original language description
This study was focused on an outbreak of human listeriosis which occurred in the Czech Republic in the Moravian-Silesian Region between 2012 and 2016. Description of the outbreak and characterization of Listeria monocytogens strains obtained from humans and foods using serotyping, PCR clonogrouping, macrorestriction analysis and whole genome sequencing were performed. Within the outbreak 26 cases were reported most of which were caused by strains of serotype 1/2a, clonal complex 8 and indistinguishable macrorestriction profile. A turkey meat delicatessen was confirmed as the vehicle of infection. A very close relationship between isolates was confirmed using whole genome sequencing analysis.
