Binders targeting clots‘ fibrin enable clots‘ imaging
Original language description
MMK 2018 - INTERNATIONAL MASARYK CONFERENCE FOR PH.D. STUDENTS AND YOUNG RESEARCHERS, December 17-21, 2018 Brno - lecture. Ischemic stroke is a leading cause of death and disability. Currently used methods are not able to display the clot causing vessel occlusion and precisely target stent-retrievers. Also specific targeting of thrombolytic therapy would be advantageous lessening side effects such as bleeding. All clots contain fibrin filaments which could be targeted by specific proteins (binders) to visualize the clot. The proteins should carry a fluorescent dye enabling visualization by confocal microscopy. The microscopy results were compared in a group of three healthy volunteers. The results show that both binders were able to visualize fibrin filaments within clots of different blood donors when streptavidin-allophycocyanin conjugate was created.
