Competitive exclusion as a tool to optimize poultry flock performance – on line webinar with invited lecture for Japanese poultry producers, September 26, 2023
Original language description
Basic information on the composition of chicken gut microbiota was provided. We stressed the differences in gut microbiota of chicks with and without contact with adult hen. Principles of host adaptation of gut microbiota members were introduced and explained. The differences in the luminal and mucosal microbiota of the chicken caecum were reminded. Complex approach to control microbiota composition in chickens and their environment may increase chicken performance and resistance to gut pathogens and consequently, allow for improved welfare and decrease in antibiotic use in animal production.
