Dehydration and rehydration for children's medical practice

Result description

Ztráty tekutiny zažívacím traktem stále zůstávají jednou z nejčastějších příčin nemocnosti a úmrtnosti dětí ve světě. Jde o 1,8 miliónu úmrtí dětí < 5 let za rok. V 50. a 60. letech minulého století se průjmy významnou měrou podílely na kojenecké úmrtnosti dětí v tehdejším Československu, která činila více než 70 promile. Šlo především o průjmová onemocnění způsobená patogenními kmeny E. coli. Průjmy bývaly nejčastějším důvodem k přijetí dětí do nemocnice a léčba spočívala velmi často v parenterálním přívodu tekutin.

In the 50 and 60 of the last century, the diarrhea contributed significantly to infant mortality in the former Czechoslovakia, which was more than 70 percent. It was mainly diarrhea caused by pathogenic strains of E. coli. Diarrhea used to be the most common reason for admission of children to hospital and treatment oftenconsisted of parenteral fluid.
