Original language description
Three species of the acalyptrate family Anthomyzidae (Diptera), viz. Anagnota major Roháček & Freidberg, 1993, Anthomyza collini Andersson, 1976 and Paranthomyza nitida (Meigen, 1838), are recorded from Portugal. Anagnota major is a new addition to the Portuguese fauna. Paranthomyza nitida is found to be associated with a new (first monocotyledonous !) host plant in Portugal, viz. Tradescantia fluminensis Vell. (Commelinaceae), an invasive species introduced from South America. New data on the habitat,host-plant association, and adult behaviour of P. nitida are provided. Distribution and biology of all recorded species are reviewed and supplemented with new information.
