IMPROVEMENTS FOR DEW POINT MEASUREMENTS AND PRIMARY REALIZATIONS REACHED IN HUMEA PROJECT
Original language description
In the field of humidity and dew point measurements, Europe has several National Metrology Institues (NMIs) with extensive experience and capabilities, but smaller NMIs do not always have the capacity or capability to meet their national or regional needs. Within the European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research (EMPIR) research project “HUMEA”, a large part of the work was devoted to evaluating requirements of participating countries for dew point calibration, traceability and measurement to support industry. Gaps in existing capabilities were identified and capabilities of participating NMIs (MoE, NSAI, IMBiH, ME-BoM and MER) were improved to meet these needs. Knowledge transfer for improving the research and measurement capacity of emergent countries was provided by CMI, INRIM and FSB. The presented paper will describe the whole process of work from overview of the state of participating NMIs at the beginning of the project to the improvements realized at the end of the project. Special attention was focused on the main parts of the generators, such as tubing, different types of connections, types of saturation, main principles of operation and measurements at different pressures, or media. Based on the information collected within project a methodological approach to building a new dew point generator was prepared and will be briefly described as well. This research is included in an EMPIR Joint Research Project “15RPT03 HUMEA2” jointly funded by the EMPIR participating countries within EURAMET and the European Union.
