Quantitative determination of telomerase activity in benign and malignant breast lesions

  • Original language description

Tumor and germ cells possess regulatory mechanisms eliminating chromosome length reduction by means of a ribonucleoprotein enzyme, telomerase. Analytical parameters of quantitative determination of telomerase activity were assessed with mammary tumor cell line ZR 75 and breast cancer tissue extracts. Relative telomerase activity differed significantly in the group of benign and malignant tissues. This method might be reliable for distinguishing benign and malignant breast lesions.
