STAT 1 phosphorylation induced by interferons in human malignant melanoma
Original language description
STAT 1 belongs to a multigene family of Signal Transducers and Activators of Transcription (STATs), latent cytoplasmic proteins, which mediate various biological effects of cytokines. STAT 1 levels and inducibility of its activated phosphoforms were examined by Western blots using immunoprecipitation and specific anti-STAT 1 antibodies. The study provides a clear demonstration of STAT 1 functional abnormalities pertinent to human malignant melanoma. The STAT 1 alterations occurred in a prevailing numberof established melanoma cell lines as well as in primary cultures derived from melanoma patients.

Czech description
STAT 1 náleží k multigenové rodině signálních transduktorů a aktivátorů transkripce, latentních cytoplazmatických proteinů, které zprostředkovávají biologické efekty různých cytokinů. Hladina proteinu STAT 1 a inducibilita jeho aktivovaných forem byly analyzovány pomocí techniky Western blot za využití imunoprecipitace a specifických protilátek. Studie poskytla zřejmý důkaz funkčních abnormalit proteinu STAT 1 souvisejících s lidským maligním melanomem. Alterace proteinu STAT 1 se vyskytovaly ve většiněstabilizovaných melanomových buněčných liniích i primárních kultur odvozených z melanomových pacientů.
