Original language description
We have read with the interest the comment from Bachleda and others responding to our report on transplant activities in the Czech Republic. We applaud the superb 90% 5-year death-censored kidney graft survival in a center with 8% donor after circulatory death Maastricht category II donors with a virtually absent living donor program. However, those data have not been publicly available, and we have thus been unable to mention them in our report on transplant activities in the Czech Republic. We assume that living donor kidney transplantations have only been performed anecdotally in regional transplant centers based on publicly available transplant numbers (Table 1). Nephrologists around the country are therefore motivated to refer patients to Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine rather than to local programs.
