Prevalence of HFE gene C282Y and H63D mutations and elevated iron biochemistries in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver and alcoholic liver disease.

  • Original language description

We studied mutations of the HFE gene C282Y and H63D in patients with alcoholic liver cirrhosis and steatosis and in patients with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis and steatosis. We measured simultaneously the content of iron in liver tissue and biochemicalmarkers of iron metabolism in these groups of patients. The prevalence of both mutations in the two groups of patients did not differ significantly. There was no correlation between the studied gene mutations and the severity of liver injury.

Výskyt mutací HFE genu C282Y a H63D a metabolizmus železa u nemocných s nealkoholickou steatohepatitidou a alkoholickou hepatopati

  • Czech description

Studovali jsme význam mutací HFE genu C282Y a H63D u nemocných s etylickou jaterní cirhózou a steatózou a u nemocných s non-alkoholickou steatohepatitidou a steatózou. Současně jsme stanovovali obsah železa v jaterní tkáni a biochemické markery metabolizmu železa u těchto skupin nemocných. Prevalence obou mutací v obou skupinách nemocných se významě nelišily a rovněž neměly signifikantní vztah ke stupni jaterního postižení.
