The death induced by the taxanes in the studied brest cancer cells can be characterized as an apoptosis-like death, including caspase-3 and caspase-9 activation but not oligonucleosomal DNA fragmentation. However, the mechanism of death induction by thetaxanes in sensitive MDA-MB-435 cells and resistant NCI-ADR-RES cells differ. Cytochrome c is released from the mitochondria in resistant but not in sensitive cells.

Smrt indukovanou taxany ve studovaných buňkách nádoru prsu lze charakterizovat jako apoptóze podobnou smrt, která zahrnuje aktivaci kaspázy 3 a kaspázy 9, ale nezahrnuje oligonukleozomální fragmentaci DNA. Mechanismus indukce smrti taxany u senzitivníchMDA-MB-435 buněk a rezistentních NCI-ADR-RES buněk se však liší. Cytochrom c se uvolňuje zmitochondrií vrezistentních, ale ne v senzitivních buňkách.
