    Molecular heterosis in metamphetamine abusers

  • Original language description

The aim of our study was to assess whether the catechol-O- methyltransferase (COMT) genetic badkground of patients dependent on metaphetamine is related to their non-abstinence in a 1-year follow-up. We examined COMT gene Val158Met polymorphism and 1-year abstinence in a group of 31 (women N=8) Czech Caucasian metamphetamine abussers (average age, 23.8+-4.0 years). Non-abstinence was significantly (P= 0.046, Fisher°s exact test) associated with the heterozygous Val/Met genotype.

Molekulární heteróza u závislosti na metamfetaminu

  • Czech description

Cílem naší práce bylo zjistit, zda polymorfismus genu COMT u závislosti na metamfetaminu má významný vztah ke schopnosti abstinovat jeden rok po ústavní léčbě. Vyšetřovali jsme Val158Met polymorfismus genu pro COMT a zjišťovali jednoroční abstinenci u 31pacientů závislých na metamfetaminu průměrného věku 23,8 let. Neschopnost abstinovat byla významně spojena s heterozygotním genotypem Val/Met (P = 0,046, Fisherův přesný test).
