The Equivalents of English Present Perfect Tense in Czech According to Parallel Corpora
Original language description
The aim of this paper is to examine the translation equivalents of English Present Perfect tense (have + past participle) into Czech according to parallel corpora. In a traditional point of view, this tense is said to translate into Czech as Past Tense,or Present Tense in some cases. There has not been much research done concerning the use of Aspect (or vid in Czech) in this case, the role of time markers, such as since, up to now, recently, yet etc., or other possible ways of translation. In this research, I will try to determine various types of equivalents, put them into groups, analyze them and show some interesting examples. One of the questions the paper will try to answer is whether the presence of time markers influences the way of translationinto Czech (tense, aspect etc.) or not.
