This chapter discusses the connection between theatrical arts and Shikitei Sanba's Ukiyoburo, a popular humorous work of literature of the late Edo period. First, the work itself is introduced, next a general mention is made of the connection of the contemporary literature and the theatre and finally the elements of theatrical arts present in Ukiyoburo are pointed out.
