Development of the verb stem derivation in Indo-Aryan

  • Original language description

The article pursues structural and diachronic description of the primary and secondary verb stem derivations from the Indo-Aryan verb root. From the formal (morphonologic) and functional point of view it follows the development of set of morphemes denoting intensity and frequentativity of action, as well as desiderativity and causativity. Historical description follows the development of the morphonological means through periods of Sanskrit (OIA), Prakrits (MIA) and New Indo-Aryan languages (NIA).
