Slovakia and Hungary: Two Different Cases of Party System Change and Persistence after 2000.
Original language description
The article compares the most recent developments in two neighboring countries' party systems. While the 2014 Hungarian parliamentary election confirmed a fundamental party system change signaled by the previous 2010 election, the 2014 Slovak presidential election cannot be taken as a proof of a party system discontinuity. The election of an outsider nonpartisan candidate is actually in line with the Slovak pattern of incompatibility between the two dominant electoral arenas - parliamentary and presidential.
