Článek zkoumá možnosti konstrukční analýzy funkcí slova v konkrétním typu textů. Podrobněji je popsáno pět konstrukcí slova then detekovaných v korpusu matematických univerzitních učebnic: logické then, hypotetické podmínkové then, časové then, důsledkové then a shrnující then. Přestože se nejedná o kompletní výčet konstrukcí then, z výsledků analýzy je zřejmé, že konstrukční perspektiva nabízí přesnější informace o použití tohoto slova v matematických textech.
