Original language description
A short essay on the work of Irish-language poet Aifric Mac Aodha. The piece, entitled "Ag Caomhnú na Rún" (Keep It Secret), illustrates how Mac Aodha's latest collection, New Friends, incorporates themes of aging and remembering with the same openness to new knowledge and linguistic encounters that we have associated with her poetry from the start. The poet's work has been a fascinating testimony to a life spent between languages. To witness Mac Aodha's dizzying hunt for words means to be included among the poet's 'Seanchairde' (Old Friends) and to be among recipients of the love songs dedicated to her special 'croítheanga' (the language of my heart).
