The heritage language global think tank: Collaboration across countries
Original language description
The Heritage Language Global Think Tank (est. 2022) unites professionals from 14 countries to support community-based heritage language (CBHL) education. The group aims to enhance recognition, quality, and sustainability of CBHL programs worldwide, focusing on multilingual student development, cultural identity, and lifelong skills. Initiatives include sharing effective pedagogical strategies, developing teaching materials, providing teacher support, connecting CBHL schools with mainstream education, recognising student proficiency, and promoting global advocacy. By fostering international collaboration, the Think Tank identifies practices adaptable across contexts, creating guidelines, infographics, and networks that empower educators, students, and families in heritage language learning.
