Original language description
The history of Czech lexicography dates from the first Czech translation glosses in foreign-language texts in the 11th century to the digital online dictionaries created today. It includes large monolingual and bilingual (translation) dictionaries produced in different periods as well as a number of important specialized dictionaries and databases of various sizes. The creation of individual works is closely linked to the socio-cultural situation at the given time. The article also includes a short overview of Czech metalexicography.
