The study is concerned with the interaction of the word-order principles, the grammatical principle and functional sentence perspective, in Present-day English. English displays deviations from both the grammatical principle and the basic distribution ofthe former appear to be motivated by a tendency to achieve end focus. In the latter case the functional sentence perspective is indicated by nonlinear devices."
