    On 20 February 2023, the research centre &quot;Ukraine in a Changing Europe&quot; is launched atthe Institute of International Studies. The new centre operates at the intersection of humanitiesand social sciences to enforce academic expertise on contemporary Ukraine to be implementedin the teaching process and beyond. Two main objectives define the thematic scope of thecentre&apos;s work:1)de-centreing / de-colonizing knowledge production on Eastern Europe throughdisentangling Ukrainian Studies from Russia-centered Area Studies to provide more spacefor local voices, manifold agencies, and indigenous interpretations;2)placing the recent Ukrainian developments in a broader context to expose theirimplications for the future of democracy, European project, and the world order, moregenerally.The Centre&apos;s leader is Dr. Valeria Korablyova, Assistant Professor at the Department ofRussian and East European Studies. Its institutional partners in Ukraine are National Universityof &quot;Kyiv-Mohyla Academy&quot; and Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv that will be represented atthe public opening on 20 February 2023.
