The Unfortunate Metamorphosis of Andrej Babiš: From Moderate Liberalism to Failed Machiavellian Pragmatism
Original language description
At the beginning of his political career, Andrej Babiš, the former Czech Prime Minister, mentioned the so-called "shovel theory" many times. This theory metaphorically equates children's behaviour in the sandbox to leadership and dominance traits. According to this theory, as Babiš puts it, four-year-olds play with paddles in the sandbox, and those genetically predisposed to be leaders tend to dominate others with their paddles. According to Babiš, this behaviour indicates natural leaders who assert themselves over others from an early age, and this pattern continues throughout life under any regime (Honzejk, 2022).
