Original language description
This review article analyzes various proposals to use the concept of economic culture as an instrument of explanation in the research on post-communist transformation. Attempts to understand economic culture as identical or closely related to formal/informal institutions, social capital and civil society are discussed and assessed. It is argued that in the study of social and economic phenomena economic culture should be utilized as an explanatory concept in its own right.

Tato prehledova stat analyzuje ruzne koncepce ekonomicke kultury a zpusoby jejiho vyuziti pro vysvetleni jevu zkoumanych v oblasti transformace postkomunistickych spolecnosti. Diskutovany jsou navrhy chapat ekonomickou kulturu jako koncept blizky pojmumformalni/neformalni instituce, socialni kapital nebo obcanska spolecnost. Autor se snazi zduvodnit stanovisko, ze ekonomicka kultura predstavuje koncept, ktery nabizi explanacni moznosti neposkytovane alternativnimi pojmy, a proto s nim je treba i nadalepracovat samostatne.
