The Enochic Myth in the Letter of Jude
Original language description
The paper suggests that the polemical section of the Letter of Jude is heavily influenced by the Enochic traditions and the Watchers' myth in particular. This influence could be demonstrated not only on literary level, i.e. on phrases and images, but also on the macrostructure of Jude's polemic. This structure follows the same pattern of charges against the sinners as in the Watchers' myth. The first set of examples in vv. 5-7 corresponds to the sins of Shemihazah and his hosts and the second set in v. 11 to the sin of Asael.
