Chemistry and biology education in Czech Republic
Original language description
The paper informs on the development of science education, especially biology and chemistry at primary and secondary schools in Czech Republic from the 1960's up to present time. First we show the short summary of the development of the organization andcontents of biology and chemistry teaching. The next part will characterize the current state of these subjects' teaching and the factors that affect it. The students encounter the first elements of chemistry and biology in the subject "Natural Science"which are taught at the primary school. The students should learn to describe known natural and artificial substances, as well as to plan, to perform and to explain a simple experiment. Teaching of chemistry, biology and physics at the second stage of primary schools and at secondary schools is realized through separate independent subjects.
