Neogene basins and Paleogene volcanic complexe
Original language description
Large freshwater coal-bearing deposits and volcanic bodies are exposed in the Ohře (Eger) Rift area. Starting from the west, they are called the Cheb and Sokolov Basins, the Doupovské Hory Volcanic Complex, the Most Basin, the České Středohoří Volcanic Complex, the Hrádek part of the Žitava (Zittau) Basin, and the Lusatian Volcanic Field. Other occurrences of Tertiary deposits on the Bohemian Massif are situated in southern Bohemia - the Budějovice and Třeboň Basins, and as scattered erosion remnants elsewhere. Similarly, Cenozoic volcanic activity comprised scattered volcanic fields and isolated volcanic features dispersed across the northern part of the Bohemian Massif. The above-listed regional units encompass Eocene to Pliocene deposits in various extent and facies.
