This bachelor thesis deals with the fate of Liberec doctor Siegfried Lissau's family and his relatives against the backdrop of the Holocaust. The greatest emphasis is placed on presenting the life story of this family and the persecution of the Jewish population during the Second World War through their example, as well as the question of their nationality and religious beliefs. The Lissau family was, on the whole, a normal Jewish family living in interwar Liberec. However, this changed as a result of developments in neighbouring Germany, which annexed their former home. They were thus forced to flee to Prague, from where they were deported first to the Theresienstadt ghetto and later to the concentration camp in Auschwitz, Poland. Here their life story also ends.
