COMPARATION TEAM COHESION IN SUCCESSFUL BOYS AND GIRLS HANDBALL TEAMS
Original language description
The main aim of this study was to compare group cohesion in succesful youth girls and boys handball teams. A further aim was to examine the relationships between perceived team success and group cohesiveness. The research sample consisted of four handball teams (n = 60, vek = 15,4+-0,9 years). The Youth Sport Environment Questionnaire (YSEQ; Eys, Loughead, Bray & Carron, 2009) was used to assess the group cohesion, amplified with additional variables. Statistical analysis indicated that levels of socialand total cohesion in boys teams were significantly (p<0,05) lower than in girls teams. Correlation analyses of both genders has resulted in finding a significant relationship between evaluating the successfulness of respective team and total (group) cohesion (r= 0,553**, P < 0,01) as well as task cohesion (r=0,553**, P < 0,01), but insignificant concerning social cohesion (r= 0,336, P > 0,05).
