The article deals on the importance of the European Society for the History of Science and its last in between conference called Universities in Central Europe - Crossroads of Scholars from All Over the World and tooking place on 29 September 2011 - 1 October 2011 in the Prague Karolinum. The conference commemorated the 100th anniversary of Einstein's appointment as an ordinary professor at the Prague German University in Prague and it was as well one of the main topics of more than twenty papers presented at the conference. The second part of the programme was concentrated on the development of Central European universities from the 18th century up to now.
