Paper describes the application of economy-wide material flow analysis to the economy of the Czech Republic. Relevant indicators are derived on the basis of accounts and balances of material flows compiled for the Czech Republic for 1990-2002.The resultsshow that indicators of material flows decreased during the period analysed by approximately 30-50%.It is demonstrated that also material intensity and DPO and TDP share in GDP decreased significantly. Finally the reasons for recorded decrease of material flow indicators are discussed.
