Original language description

The article shows that the verb &apos;kráčet&apos; predominantly appears as a translation correspondence of &apos;walk&apos; used in subject-verb inversion constructions lacking overt directionality of movement. In these situations, the movement has the status of an activity. The verb &apos;jít&apos; and its derivatives predominantly appear as translation correspondences of &apos;walk&apos; used in subject-verb inversion constructions involving overt directionality of movement. In these situations, the movement represents an event. The verbs&apos; propensity to be employed in the types of motion situations in question is underlain by the differences in the degrees of the salience of their manner and path schemata.
