Fluctuation of the low-spectrum peak frequency and baroreflex sensitivity in cross-spectra of blood pressure and heart rate in young diabetics
Original language description
Positive correlation was found between the frequency of the spectral peak (f) in cross-spectra of systolic blood pressure and heart rate fluctuations (frequency range between 60 and120 mHz) and baroreflex sensitivity (BRS) in a group of young diabetics and in healthy controls. BRS was not constant during several minutes? monitoring at rest. We recorded blood pressure and heart rate beat-to-beat by Finapres in 14 type 1 diabetics (age 20-25 years, diabetics duration 10-15 years) and 14 age-matched controls for 42 minutes. Results: The mean slope (+-SD) of regression lines (mHz*mmHg/ms) was 3.99+-3.46 (p<0.05) in diabetics and 2.77+-2.52 (p<0.05) in healthy controls. It is concluded that a positive correlation between the values of BRS and the frequency of the peak (range 60-120 mHz) in the cross-spectra of systolic pressure and heart rate fluctuations during spontaneous variation of BRS at rest exists in both groups, young diabetics and healthy controls.
