International Survey among EWMA and EPUAP Representatives - Registries of Pressure Ulcer Incidence

Aim: The objectives of the study was to ensure: Exist foreign national registries for the incidence and prevalence of pressure ulcers (PU) in abroad? What kind of data are collected? What is the minimal data set for accurate incidence evaluation of PU? Is it possible to share data on the same basis internationally? Method: A cross section descriptive survey design (one-stage Delphi survey) as a follow up of the literature overview. International web-based survey of expert opinion - experts in wound care (representatives of EWMA and EPUAP cooperating organization). Results/Discussion: Survey covering all the countries with collaborating wound management organizations of EWMA (37 countries) and EPUAP (14 countries). From EWMA cooperation organisation 62 and 21 person as EPUAP representatives was interviewed. In total 6 from EWMA and 10 from EPUAP representatives responded (response rate 27%). Two additional countries answered (contacted by NPUAP) Australia and USA.
