The presentation dealt with the issue of reinterpretation of Hinduism in the works of Swami Vivekananda with reference to two interconnected issues: (a) situatedness of Vivekananda in colonial situation as a situation of superimposed modernity; (b) Vivekananda's appeal on the Western public with his modern interpretation of Hinduism as a religion suitable for the modern West.
