The Music Aesthetic Comparison is a method of bringing closer the foreign, distant or unknown musical cultures at the introductory level. This paper will introduce the Music Aesthetic Comparison method and its theoretical fundaments based on formal aesthetics, and an illustrational version of its first phase will be executed on the example of some of the musical treatises of 18th century Ottoman Turkey as the initial step of a proposal on how to bring nearer the non-European classical musics within theframework of the standard musicology curriculum, starting with one of the closest ones.
