Social Media Permanent Campaign : Croatian HDZ in July 2021
Original language description
Social media are still a relatively new communication line that connects politicians and their voters. This article is based on monitoring posts on official Facebook page of the Croatian right-wing party HDZ that was done in July 2021. The analysis then follows themes, language and emotions that appeared in the selected themes from the twelve that were detected, e.g., covid-19, ratings, ambitions, reactions to the opposition, etc. During the elaboration both positive and negative appeals to emotions, pictures of bright or dark future as well as stronger language in use were observed. A monitoring like this enables to take a step back and look from the outside of what is actually said and then read by voters on Facebook; what are the themes and ambitions of the political party as well as the tone of their communication.
