Self-Esteem of Intellectually Gifted Children and Children Identified by their Parents and Teachers as Gifted

The investigation of the gifted childrens self-esteem is one part of the wider research focused on the sociability and emotionality of the gifted in the Czech Republic. The research is carried out in the sample of children at the age of 7-9. In the firststage of the research we identified the gifted children. We used Raven`s Coloured Progressive Matrices to screen the intelligence of the children in the classrooms. Childrens teachers and parents were asked to identify their children as gifted. In the second stage of the research we investigated the selected children elaborately. We used a lot of methods to obtain the required data but the most important for examination of the self-esteem and the intelligence were Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children and Harters Self-Perception Profile for Children. The teachers evaluate childrens self-esteem by filling out Teachers Rating Scale of Childs Actual Behaviour.

Sebehodnocení intelektově nadaných dětí a dětí identifikovaných rodiči a učiteli jako nadané

Zkoumání sebehodnocení nadaných dětí je součástí širšího výzkumu zaměřeného na sociabilitu a emocionalitu nadaných v České republice. Výzkumu se zúčastnily děti ve věku 7-9 let. V první fázi výzkumu jsme identifikovali nadané děti. Ke screeningu inteligence dětí ve třídách jsme použili Ravenovy barevné progresivní matrice. Také jsme požádali rodiče a učitele, aby identifikovali jejich děti jako nadané. Ve druhé fázi výzkumu jsme vybrané děti testovali podrobněji. Použili jsme širokou škálu metod pro získání údajů o dětech, ale pro výzkum sebehodnocení a struktury inteligence byly nejdůležitější Wechslerova inteligenční škála pro děti a Profil vnímání sebe sama pro děti S. Harterové. Učitelé hodnotili děti pomocí Škály aktuálního chování dítěte.
