    The effect of light of differing spectral qualities on the nucleocytoplasmic and chloroplast cycle of the green chlorococcal alga Scenedesmus obliquus

    Colour of light had significant effect on the growth that was slowed in the order: red, white, blue, and green. In the same order, the light phase of the cell cycle was prolonged. The length of dark phase was not influenced and was the same for all colours. Critical cell size for cell division in green light was shifted to a smaller size, when compared with cells grown in other lights. At the beginning of the cell cycle, one-nuclei daughters possess app. 10 nucleoids and during the cell cycle their number doubled before division of nuclei in all variants. Both events were delayed in the cultures grown more slowly most markedly in green light.

    Rychlost rstu se snižovala v poadí ervená, bílá. modrá a zelená varianta. Ve stejném poadí se prodlužovala svtelná fáze cyklu. Délka temnostní fáze ovlivnna nebyla. Kritická velikost bunk pro jejich dlení byla na zeleném svtle menší než u ostatních svtel. Na zaátku cyklu obsahovaly buky 10 nukleoid na jedno jádro a jejich poet se zdvojnásobil ped rozdlením jádra. Oba procesy byly nejpomalejší v zelené variant.
