    Several methods for estimation of pyrite oxidation rate (POR) were compared in waste rock pile at Mine Doyon site, Quebec, Canada. At this site, transport of oxygen occurs by both convection and diffusion. Large scale methods like temperature and oxygenprofiles and pyrite mass balance gave similar results like small scale oxygen consumption method in laboratory. This means that at a site with convective oxygen transport even small scale methods may give satisfactory POR results.

  • Czech description

    Několik metod pro posouzení rychlosti oxidace pyritu (POR) bylo porovnáno v haldě skrývky na lokalitě Mine Doyon v Quebecu v Kanadě. Na této lokalitě transport kyslíku probíhá jak konvekcí, tak i difuzí. Metody velkého měřítka jako profily teploty a kyslíku a bilance hmoty pro pyrit daly podobné výsledky jako metoda spotřeby kyslíku v laboratoři. To znamená, že i metody používající malé měřítko mohou dát uspokojivé výsledky na lokalitách, kde transport kyslíku probíhá konvekcí.
