Analysis of the host-parasite interactions in gastric pathogen Cryptosporidium muris
Original language description
Cryptosporidium (Apicomplexa) is an epicellular parasite infecting gastrointestinal tract of vertebrates, including humans. Cryptosporidiosis is self-limiting disease in healthy hosts; however, it represents a life-threatening problem in immunocompromised individuals because of lack of an effective treatment. The aim of presented study was to examine and optimise procedures, such as rodent inoculation, faeces examinations, oocysts purification and excystation in vitro, for the planned in vitro and in vivo analyses of host-parasite interactions in Cryptosporidium muris. Additional histological observations have been performed to observe pathological effect of parasite on experimentally infected immunocompromised laboratory mice.
