Numerical paleostress analysis ? the limits of automation
Original language description
The purpose of this paper is to highlight the main problematic questions limiting the automation of numerical paleostress analysis of heterogeneous fault-slip data sets. It focusses on problems concerning the creation of spurious solutions, the separation of data corresponding to several tectonic phases, and the precision of measurement. It offers some ways of dealing with these problems and trying to control their influence on the accuracy of solutions.
