The role of c-Myb in regulation of migration and invasivity of colon carcinoma cells
Original language description
c-Myb is a transcription factor expressed in immature hematopoietic cells and in various types of tumor cells, such as colon and breast carcinoma cells. It is implicated in control of proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. Its function during migration and invasion remains unclear. The aim of this study is to assess the role of c-Myb in control of invasivity of colon cancer cells. To determine the effect of c-Myb on migration and invasion of CT26cMyb cells, we used the xCELLigence System that monitors a cell migration and invasivity continuously in real time. We showed that enhanced expression of c-Myb increased migration and invasivity of colon carcinoma CT26 cells. In addition, the proinvasive factor Slug was found up-regulated in c-Myb overexpressing CT26cMyb cells, suggesting that Myb uses this protein to control invasivity of colon carcinoma cells. This study demonstrates that c-Myb has an important role in the regulation of migration and invasion of cancer cells.
