CARBON FIBER MICROELECTRODES AS ELECTROANALYTICAL TOOLS
Original language description
Carbon fibers (CF), commercially available advanced materials notable for their high tensile strength are used to fabricate strong and lightweight composite materials, where high strength-to-weight ratio and rigidity is of importance. Individual carbon fibers can be used as fantastic electrode material. The diameter, typical for most CFs is 7-8 micrometers, granting the microelectrode properties to resulting carbon fiber microelectrodes (CFMs). Types of CFs, fabrication protocols for CFMs, surface modifications and analytical applications of CFMs are summarized in this contribution.
