Original language description
Laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) is a basic method for detection of number of species including reactive radicals. The conference contribution shows LIF measurement of germanium atoms in plasma and flame – the used method, encountered complications and obtained results. An emphasis was put on the role of the excitation transfer during the fluorescence proces. The motivation to study Ge atoms in discharges and flames is based on the need to develop analytical methods for detection of Ge, which is increasingly used in modern technologies. Number of analytical methods require atomization of Ge-carrying molecules (e.g. GeH4), which can be provided by plasmas or flames.
