On some discourse functions of you know in English authentic face-to-face conversation
Original language description
The study indicates that the clausal form you know not only tends to be frequently used in English conversation, but also tends to perform various discourse functions. They depend on many factors, for example, prosodic features, position within the turnand sequence of turns, entire situational context including its participants, their relationships and the topics discussed in a particular situation.
